Data Center

The Data Centers of Welcome Italia are designed and created with security, power, cooling and redundancy systems to prevent interruption of the services provided and to ensure business continuity even during maintenance, breakdown or accident.

The two facilities at Pisa and Lucca are 33 km from each other and host, in a protected environment monitored 24 hours a day and always connected, the equipment for the supply of all Vianova services (MailWI, MeetingWI, CloudWI, etc.) as well as equipment and servers in colocation for Customers.

The position of both facilities in Italy also protects Customers with regard to legislation on security and confidentiality of business data.

Security

  • the facilities are built following anti-flood and anti-seismic criteria capable of withstanding serious floods and earthquakes
  • the area of the Data Centers is compartmentalized by walls and doors with a REI 120 fire-resistance classification
  • the facilities are protected by perimeter alarm and video-surveillance systems connected remotely to local security companies
  • access is allowed only to authorized personnel and controlled by biometric readers
  • opening individual racks is only possible with personal electronic cards
  • all systems are constantly monitored 24/7

Power supply

  • electrical equipment is based on multiple and independent power systems with separate and independent paths
  • in case of emergency, electrical continuity is ensured by mutually-redundant static UPS switches, 48V power units and diesel generators
  • UPSs are located across separate rooms with independent cooling units
  • the power supply for each rack uses a double-line redundancy system with secure fireproof sockets and plugs

Cooling

  • the arrangement of separate hot and cold aisles allows for reducing consumption and greater efficiency of hosted equipment
  • the air-conditioning system with dual power circuit ensures the maintenance of temperature and humidity within a range of predetermined values
  • the air conditioners are powered without interruption (continuous cooling) even when generators come online

Redundancy

  • 100 Gbps of capacity for the fiber optic ring link between the two Data Centers
  • local and geographical redundancy of all core equipment (routers, switches, telephone exchanges, servers, etc.) with synchronous replication of storage data
  • redundancy of all the POP collection connecting circuits to the two Data Centers
  • redundancy of all connecting circuits with the internet exchange points and the national telephone network
